ChatGPT | Slides Adds AI Editing & Real-Time Collaboration

OpenAI announced ChatGPT Slides on October 16, 2026, bringing presentation creation and shared editing into Space. For designers and content teams, the useful change is keeping the discussion, the slide content and the next visual revision connected. Access is rolling out to eligible Pro, Business and Enterprise users rather than every ChatGPT account.

Turn the conversation into a presentation brief

A deck can start from a conversation, files or an outline, with an example presentation guiding its style and layout. Text, images, shapes and charts can then be edited directly or revised through ChatGPT. That combines an initial AI draft with hands-on choices about the finished visual story.

Before generating slides, define the audience, the decision the deck should support and the material that needs evidence. A product introduction has different needs from a campaign review. Prepare a short narrative outline first, so the visual work develops around an understandable sequence rather than a set of attractive but disconnected pages.

Use collaboration to clarify the message

Teammates can edit the same presentation in real time and leave shared comments. Use that review to resolve one question per slide: what should the viewer notice, understand or decide? A precise comment about an unclear comparison gives the next revision more direction than a general request for polish.

Separate content approval from visual refinement. Confirm the wording and figures before spending time on minor spacing, then review hierarchy, image selection and chart readability. Keep the intended audience in view throughout the process. A slide that makes sense to the author may still need a clearer title or less surrounding explanation.

Review generated visuals as part of the argument

For an image, ask whether it explains the subject or merely fills space. For a chart, check the source values, labels and the comparison being emphasized. A visually consistent deck can still contain a misleading scale or an illustration that suggests something the content does not establish.

Inspect the presentation at a readable viewing size rather than only as small thumbnails. Check that titles form a coherent story when read in sequence, and that supporting details remain legible. If the deck needs to work without a speaker, include the context required to understand the evidence on the page.

Confirm access and check the exported deck

Space access is required, with the rollout covering web and desktop. On the web, export options include PowerPoint, PDF and Google Slides; desktop can open the deck in installed PowerPoint or Keynote. Presenting directly from ChatGPT is another option. Choose the route around how the audience will receive the work.

After exporting, inspect the actual delivery file. Review typography, image placement, charts and any crowded slides in the application or format the recipient will use. Keep the approved content and the final export together so a later revision can be checked against the same reference instead of an older draft.

Daisuki's Take: What This Means for Designers

We see the practical advantage in bringing review closer to creation. The team can discuss the point of a slide while refining the slide itself.

We would use the first draft to test the narrative, then apply a deliberate visual review. Generation speed should leave more time to verify the message and evidence.

For designers, the final standard remains the presentation the audience sees. Check both the shared working deck and the exported version before calling the project finished.
