Photoshop gives designers more control over realism, text, and compositing
Adobe’s latest Photoshop update focuses on removing friction from everyday creative production. The new tools are aimed at designers, photographers, retouchers, and compositors who need to refine lighting, depth, text shape, generated content, and object placement without leaving the main Photoshop workflow.
For professional users, the most important change is control. Adobe is improving both traditional non-destructive editing and AI-assisted generation, which means designers can adjust the image manually, mask the result, blend layers, and still use Firefly-powered tools when they need faster cleanup, expansion, or compositing support.
How the new Photoshop tools improve creative editing
Photoshop now includes new Clarity, Dehaze, and Grain adjustment layers for non-destructive editing. Reference Image for Generative Fill also receives a major upgrade. Adobe says the feature can preserve the identity of a reference object while reorienting it to match scale, rotation, lighting, color, and perspective in the target scene. This is especially useful for product mockups, compositing, campaign visuals, scene building, and object-based creative direction.
The update shows Photoshop moving toward a mixed workflow where classic layer-based control and AI generation work together.
