Figma is extending Figma Weave beyond its own interface by letting creators run Weave tools directly from AI clients such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Cursor. The new workflow uses the Figma MCP server to connect an agent with existing Weave tools, allowing creative tasks to be requested, processed, and returned without repeatedly moving between applications.
Figma Weave tools can now run inside external AI conversations
The integration connects Figma Weave with compatible AI clients through Figma's MCP server. Instead of opening Weave, locating a tool, preparing its inputs, and then returning to another application, creators can describe the task in their current AI conversation and ask the agent to run the appropriate Weave tool.
The agent can find the requested tool, execute it, monitor the operation, and bring the result back into the same conversation. This makes Weave tools more accessible as reusable creative actions rather than workflows that always need to be launched manually from a separate interface.
Prompts, images, and brand context can stay with the agent
One practical advantage is that the creative context can remain inside the conversation. Figma specifically highlights prompts, images, and brand guidelines as information that can stay available while a Weave tool is being used, reducing the need to reconstruct the same instructions each time the workflow changes applications.

Keeping images, prompts, and brand guidelines in the same conversational context may also reduce one of the repetitive parts of AI-assisted design: transferring the same instructions between several tools before each generation or edit.
We see the strongest value in workflows that are already repeatable. A carefully built Weave tool can define how a task should be performed, while ChatGPT, Claude, Cursor, or another compatible agent becomes the conversational layer used to invoke it when the project needs that operation.
