Higgsfield | AI Video Tools Arrive in DaVinci Resolve
Higgsfield has introduced a DaVinci Resolve plugin that brings AI video and image generation, editing tools, background removal, reframing, upscaling, and reference-based color matching into the editing workspace. Creators can generate missing B-roll, adjust footage, and move results directly into a project without repeatedly switching to a browser.
Higgsfield puts AI generation inside the Resolve workspace
The plugin combines seven core tools in one panel: Generate Video, Generate Image, Edit Video, Draw to Edit, Reframe, Remove Background, and Upscale. It also includes an AI LUT Creator and direct access to Higgsfield's Cinema Studio and Marketing Studio.
Nano Banana 2 is the default model for images, while Seedance 2.0 is used by default for video. A wider model selection is available through the integration, allowing editors to create backgrounds, overlays, title cards, short scenes, camera movements, and other visual elements from prompts and references.
Generated B-roll can move directly into the active edit
An editor can start with an active clip or preview, add a visual reference when needed, and describe the missing shot. Once generation finishes, Import to Resolve places the result in the Media Pool or directly on the Timeline, while Last Generations provides access to recent Higgsfield outputs.
The workflow is designed primarily for B-roll, cutaways, and inserts. Higgsfield's video models produce clips between four and fifteen seconds, so the plugin is better suited to filling short visual gaps than creating long master shots. Reframe also supports six aspect ratios with subject tracking when the same footage needs another format.
AI LUT Creator helps generated footage match the sequence
The AI LUT Creator compares a frame from the source footage with a reference image, graded shot, photograph, or color palette. It can export the resulting look as a `.cube` LUT or apply it to the current clip through color nodes inside Resolve.
This addresses a common problem with generated B-roll: an individual clip may look polished but still feel disconnected from the surrounding camera footage. Reference-based matching provides a faster starting point, although colorists should still review exposure, skin tones, contrast, saturation, and shot-to-shot consistency before final delivery.
Resolve 19, internet access, and plan credits are required
The plugin supports DaVinci Resolve 19 or newer on macOS and Windows. The App Store version of Resolve is not compatible, so users need the edition distributed through Blackmagic Design. After installation, the panel appears under Workflow Integrations or Scripts, depending on the setup.
Every AI operation runs on Higgsfield's servers, which means the plugin cannot work offline. Editors sign in with their existing Higgsfield account, and generations use the same plan credit balance shared with the web platform and other Higgsfield integrations.

The strongest advantage is not simply having another place to generate video. Working inside Resolve lets editors judge a new clip beside the actual sequence, making problems with framing, pacing, color, or visual continuity easier to identify before importing multiple variations.
The AI LUT Creator is especially relevant because generated footage rarely arrives perfectly matched to existing material. It can shorten the first grading pass, but it should remain a starting point rather than a replacement for deliberate color work and final visual review.
We would use this integration for missing inserts, visual experiments, format adaptations, and repetitive cleanup tasks. Its value will depend on how consistently the generated material fits the edit, so creators should test model behavior, credit consumption, compatibility, and output quality before relying on it across a complete production.
