Higgsfield | Video Relight and Color Palette Edit Video
Higgsfield has introduced Video Relight and Color Palette as standalone editing tools for footage that is already generated or filmed. Instead of rebuilding a successful shot because its lighting or color treatment does not fit the final project, creators can change those visual properties while preserving the original composition, motion, and performance.
Higgsfield adds lighting and color editing after generation
Video Relight is designed for situations where the shot itself already works but the lighting does not. A creator can upload an existing clip and change the light direction, intensity, color, and diffusion without recreating the scene from the beginning.
The tool includes lighting presets such as Practicals, Silhouette, Contre-jour, Soft Cross, Window, and Overhead Fall, along with an Auto option. Custom lighting provides more control, with settings for color, brightness, diffusion, and angle. Up to two custom light sources can be configured in a single pass, and lighting can also be described through a prompt.
Color Palette applies a consistent grade to existing footage
Color Palette approaches the same post-generation problem from the grading side. Creators can upload a video and apply one of more than 50 available looks, ranging from relatively restrained cinematic treatments to stronger stylized palettes.
Presets include options such as Film Colors, Black Gloss, Candy Pink, Lime Jam, Nostalgic Blue, and Soft Palette. A reference image can also be uploaded when the goal is to transfer a particular color treatment to the video instead of starting from a predefined preset.
Existing shots can be corrected without rebuilding the scene
The main advantage of both tools is that they operate on footage that already exists. If the framing, character performance, motion, or composition is correct, creators can concentrate on the remaining visual problem instead of risking a new generation that changes parts of the shot that were already working.
Video Relight can help when footage needs a different mood, a stronger directional source, or lighting that matches another clip in the same edit. Color Palette can help unify footage produced at different times or from different sources by giving multiple shots a more consistent visual treatment.
Relight and color grading can be combined in one workflow
The two tools can be applied sequentially to the same clip. A creator might first correct the lighting with Video Relight and then use Color Palette to establish the final grade, keeping the two creative decisions separate instead of trying to solve both through another complete video generation.
The underlying lighting and color systems are also available in Cinema Studio 4.0. Higgsfield positions the standalone tools for footage that is already finished structurally, while Cinema Studio remains more appropriate when camera, lens, character, era, lighting, and color are still being defined as part of the original shot generation.
IMPORTANT: Higgsfield currently lists both Video Relight and Color Palette at 135 credits, or $6.75, for a 15-second clip. Pricing and credit requirements may change, so check the current cost before processing multiple videos.{alertWarning}
Daisuki's Take: What This Means for Designers
The useful shift here is that lighting and grading become editable decisions after an AI video has already succeeded in the areas that are usually hardest to reproduce, such as composition, timing, and character performance.
This can be especially valuable when several clips need to feel like part of the same sequence. Matching light direction or applying a shared color treatment can help visually connect footage generated with different prompts, models, or production conditions without discarding otherwise successful shots.
We see these tools as part of a broader move toward post-production controls for generative video. The less often creators need to regenerate an entire scene to correct one visual variable, the closer AI video workflows become to conventional editing, where lighting, grading, and final presentation can be refined independently.
