Adobe | Creative tools expand across Gemini and Claude

Adobe began rolling out creative tools in Gemini and an expanded Adobe for Claude plugin on September 24. Gemini gains access to Photoshop, Lightroom, Express, and Firefly capabilities through conversation. Claude adds Acrobat tools and interactive editing for PDFs and Express designs, connecting AI requests with more direct control over the resulting work.

Adobe connects creative work with two AI assistants

The Gemini connection is rolling out globally across all Gemini plans and requires an Adobe account. The Claude plugin supports guest access, with sign-in unlocking additional tools, higher limits, and session continuity. Existing Claude connectors update automatically. The two experiences should be assessed separately rather than assumed to expose identical tools and controls.

In Gemini, a creator can request work such as refining product photos, adapting designs for social channels, or personalizing Express templates. A useful brief should identify the intended result and what must remain consistent. For a product set, that might include approved colors, the treatment of backgrounds, and the visual relationship between several images.

Gemini requests can start from a clear visual outcome

Review an initial result before asking for many variations. A small comparison can reveal whether the requested style actually fits the brand and whether the asset works with the intended copy. Once the direction is approved, the next requests can be more specific, reducing the chance that each variation starts another discussion about the same unresolved design choices.

The creator should still check the work in its delivery context. A product photo that looks clean by itself may need a different crop for a storefront card or social composition. Giving the request that context early can make the result easier to evaluate, even when the production begins with a simple conversational instruction.

Claude adds direct control over individual elements

Claude's new layer-based Express editor allows separate adjustments to images, copy, colors, and fonts. The PDF editor supports hands-on changes and review. For a designer, that distinction matters: a draft can be generated conversationally, then refined through selected elements instead of making every correction another request to rebuild the full composition.

Use direct editing where the desired correction is precise. Moving emphasis from one line to another or refining a color choice requires a specific visual judgment. The useful workflow is the one that makes those decisions easier to express and inspect, whether the creator uses a conversation, an editor, or both.

Account setup affects the available experience

Account setup should be part of the first trial. In Gemini, connect Adobe under Personal Intelligence and sign in; in Claude, decide whether guest access is enough for the intended task. Confirm the actual tools and limits available before assigning a larger job, particularly when several collaborators need to repeat the same production steps.

Try a compact deliverable that includes both creation and refinement. A promotional graphic or short document can show how well the workflow handles approved copy, visual adjustments, and final review. Record which tasks feel clearer through conversation and which benefit from direct editing, so the team can choose each method deliberately.

Daisuki's Take: What This Means for Designers

We think the most useful part of this expansion is the connection between a requested outcome and editable work. Creators need to move beyond a promising first result, especially when brand details or document content require exact correction.

We would assess Gemini and Claude through the same real brief while respecting their different capabilities. That comparison can reveal which environment fits a team's usual work without assuming that every assistant should handle every stage.

Begin with one small asset and finish the review. The connection becomes valuable when it helps a creator reach a usable result with control over the details that matter, including the copy, visual hierarchy, and final presentation.
