Adobe Firefly | Music, Speech, and Sound Effects Go Live
Adobe Firefly is expanding its creative AI studio with generally available tools for generating music, speech, and sound effects in one place. The broader audio workflow gives creators a way to build soundtracks, voiceovers, and custom effects alongside image, video, and design work without relying on a separate service for every stage of production.
Firefly brings music, voice, and sound generation into one studio
Generate Music, Generate Speech, and Generate Sound Effects are now broadly available in Adobe Firefly. The three tools address different parts of an audio workflow while keeping them connected to the same creative environment used for Firefly's visual generation and editing capabilities.
For video creators, designers, marketers, and other visual storytellers, this can simplify projects that previously required moving between separate music libraries, voice tools, sound-effect services, and editing applications. Audio can instead become another generated asset that is developed around the requirements of the project.
Generate Music can build tracks around a video's mood and length
Generate Music is powered by Adobe's Firefly Music Model and creates original tracks that can be directed through characteristics such as vibe, style, purpose, energy, and tempo. Creators can start from a written idea or upload a video so Firefly can suggest a musical direction based on the visual content.
Adobe positions the generated tracks as universally licensed and commercially safe, which is particularly relevant for branded videos, social content, tutorials, promotional material, and other projects where music rights need to be considered before publication or client delivery.
Generate Speech adds controllable voiceovers inside Firefly
Generate Speech converts scripts into voiceovers with controls for characteristics including language, accent, speed, pitch, pacing, and expression. Creators can also add tone to selected sections of text so particular words or phrases are delivered with a different emotional direction.
Firefly Speech is available as Adobe's own speech model, while the workflow also offers ElevenLabs as a partner model. This gives creators additional model choice without requiring the voiceover stage to begin in a completely separate production environment.
Sound effects can follow both descriptions and timing
Generate Sound Effects creates custom effects and ambient audio from written descriptions. Creators can also work with video or existing audio when they need the generated sound to fit a specific visual sequence rather than exist as an isolated clip.
Firefly's voice-guided workflow adds another level of control. A recorded vocal performance can indicate when an effect should happen and how its energy should develop, while the accompanying text describes the sound itself. This can make effects easier to synchronize with movement and events on screen.
Firefly AI Assistant gains free daily generations
Adobe is also opening a free Firefly AI Assistant experience with daily generations. The assistant can help creators move through broader tasks such as preparing storyboards, creating brand kits, developing mockups, and batch editing images through conversational instructions.
Model choice is expanding at the same time. Gemini Omni Flash joins Firefly's selection of partner models and can work with video, audio, image, and text inputs, giving creators another option when developing multimodal ideas inside the Firefly environment.
REMEMBER: Music, speech, and sound effects have different generation controls and intended uses. Choose the dedicated Firefly audio tool for the asset you need rather than expecting one audio generator to handle every part of the production.{alertSuccess}
Daisuki's Take: What This Means for Designers
The bigger change is not simply that Firefly can generate audio. Music, narration, effects, images, video, and design assets are increasingly being treated as parts of the same creative project instead of separate AI workflows.
That can be useful for creators producing short videos, promotional content, presentations, tutorials, or social assets where sound usually arrives near the end of production. Generating audio around the existing visual material can reduce the amount of context that needs to be rebuilt in another application.
We would still evaluate music, speech delivery, timing, and generated effects as carefully as visual assets. The advantage of bringing these tools together is not removing creative review, but making it easier to iterate across both picture and sound without interrupting the production flow.
